Well

Self promotion completed, now all I have to do is a little report on Punk and New Romantic culture, weirdly I think its going to be very interesting! Before I crack on with that, I'm off out today to take some snowy photographs, I'll upload them on here later, maybe they'll of some use in my studio project!

Oh. My. Gawsh.

I've got to do a 15 page online promotion booklet, OH. NO. I've sort of done 15 pages but they don't look very  design- oriented! I just want to sack this computer-based work off and concentrate on my project goddamn it!
Anyway, when my free trial (cheap skate) of illustrator runs out, I'm going to get right into my project, I'm recruiting my boyfriend and friends to do a bit of modelling for photography, and as I'm back in the homeland I'm going to go out and capture images of some amazing spaces that you cannot find within the city.

Miniatures.

So I slid down three fleights of stairs today, but that hasn't stopped me from doing a cheeky bit of work. After doing a 25 page Illustrator book I'm looking forward to concentrating more on this project. Here I have used tiny objects to manipulate the perception of size and space.

More photays.

Orate art shit.

Here's a few new pieces that I've done over the past few weeks, they concentrate on living space and human interaction with space. I've used biro and blue pen because it gives a nice DIY aspect to the images. Enjoy.

Splitting the atom.
Paper Doilie saturated with biro pen. My representation of an atom, I'm going to explore these images as they are very interesting, giving texture and colour perspectives, maybe work them into some kind of larger series.

Freezing.

Well all f this snow is going to keep me inside and doing work for as long as it lasts! I'm doing a few studies on static at the minute, its very interesting how we're surrounded by objects that we can see and also ones that are above and below our sensory vision. The sale of this space is also very complex and the concepts surrounding the various purposes of space are what I'm going to grapple with during my next few studies for my project.

Embryo experiment...

Not sure on how I want to present my series of photographs for my Open Studios event, I'm going to try a combination of foamboard and photo frames and see what works best. In the meantime, I've got an illustrator workbook to do, twenty five pages of OH. DEAR.
On the other hand I may have secured work experience for a large printing firm back home, which is bloody good news!

New bits.

Here are a few pieces inspired by artists that I am currently worshipping. I need to find some new idols though, anyone know of any really awesome contemporary artists?

The Poetics of Space.

A la porte de la maison qui viendra frapper? Une porte ouverte on entre. Une porte fermee un antre. Le monde bat de l'autre cote de ma porte.

(At the door of the house who will come knocking? An open door, we enter. A closed door, a den. The world pulse beats beyond my door.)

Band art inspiration of the minute.

Brilliant imagery from Bring me the Horizon and Everytime I Die album art work, the metal scene is full of great illustratos at the moment, I like the use of form and also the vibrant colours that have been used, they give a DIY aestheic to each piece.
I'd love my work to look like this!

Inspiration...

Feeling very inspired at the minute! working on a few digital pieces that should be on here soon, which concentrate on the relation of living space and human interaction. Still trying to download Adobe illustrator and indesign which is becoming a right pain... and also looking for work experience! I lan to do a piece involving pegs tomorrow which should be very interesting!

Frosty Jacks.

Well I'm sat in my house absolutely freezing, if only heating was cheap! I've been working on several canvasses today that stem from photographs that I took of my boyfriend a few weeks ago. I've gone for a DIY aesthetic, as I hate painting that is too bourgeoise! Hopefully I'll get some photos up when I manage to find some batteries for my camera...
Speaking of cameras, after three Youtube videos I finally managed to load the film into my Diana Mini, which will definitely be seen snapping on the streets of London next weekend. I've managed to also fix my lightbulb so all in all today has been a good one.
Below are some digital pieces that I did last year, this time I'm having to use more complex programs for my work so I'll miss doing this sort of photo-collage stuff !

These pieces focussed on traditional family roles and how such roles have been reversed or dramatically altered by popular culture, the mass media, and other socio-cultural factors.

Ooo babeh. Embryo.

Needs to find work experience. Needs to do more studio work. Needs to change the bloody lightbulb in my room!
We have got an open studios event coming up, I'm thinking of submitting my Embryo series of a work, photographs of a washing machine on spin- cycle that represent the formation, fluidity and destruction of human beings and human interaction.

In my exhibition I'll frame each of these and arrange them together, it will hopefully make the viewer feel a bit seasick!

Bit of an error with the photo uploader!

At the mo...

I can't help but keep going back to my visit to Leeds City Art Gallery earlier on in the year, when I witnessed a large collection of Rachael Goodyear's work that was intimately gathered on the walls. Her work is so inspiring, on one hand due to the aspects of photo-realism that she employs, and also the interplay of form, connotation and concept. Here is a selection of my favourite pieces:

Living Space

Series of photographs that are linked to my social space project, which examines the indivdual interactions of the solitary human being within space. I have made a few drawings that are linked to these that will be uploaded shortly!
